Poets Union Inc Prize

The Poets Union Inc. Prize (formerly the Broadway Poetry Prize) is one of Australia’s most prestigious competitions for poetry.

The prize for the winning poem is $3000.

The winning poem will be announced at the Australian Poetry Festival, Sydney, on 7 September 2008. The winning poem will be published in the Poets Union journal Five Bells, and on the Poets Union website at www.poetsunion.com. The winning entry, together with the shortlisted poems, will be published by Picaro Press in booklet form and be available from Picaro Press for $7.

Port Augusta Writers’ Weekend

Friendly Street visits Port Augusta
Friday 11 July at 7pm
Port Augusta Institute Theatre

Come and meet the Friendly Street Poets, Adelaide’s first and Australia’s longest running, regular, open-to-all poetry reading group.

Join in and read your own poems or come and listen to the open mike session where a special guest reader is sure to surprise.

Friendly Street was started in 1975, and has since achieved local and national recognition for its dedication to the nurturing, support and promotion of poetry.

GET INVOLVED

Emerging or established poets are welcome to submit poems to read on the night for possible inclusion in the Annual Friendly street Anthology. Two copies of the poem(s) need to be submitted with your name, address and phone number written on the back.

Come along for a good night, stay the weekend and attend other great Port Augusta Writers Weekend events.
